Dane County TimeBank Statement on Recent Violence Against Black and Brown People

In the past few weeks, we have learned the names of 20-year-old Daunte Wright in Brooklyn Center, MN, 13-year-old Adam Toledo in Chicago, IL, 16-year-old Ma'Khia Bryant in Columbus, OH, 42-year-old Andrew Brown Jr in Boone, NC. As soon as we see the beginning glimpses of accountability with the conviction of Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd, we are reminded that we have not yet seen justice, as police continue to kill Black and Brown people, to kill children. The Dane County Timebank staff feels the need to respond to the moment we are in and to the relentless attacks against Black communities. We answered the following questions: How have you been relating to the ongoing news of violence against Black and Brown people? What would you like to see collectively to respond?

We wrote our responses and shared it on a Padlet. We invite the community to write comments and share your emotions and commitments to antiracist action.
