The Big Share, Polar Plunge, Strategic Planning, New Stuff!

Hello TimeBankers!  It's fundraising time, we're planning for our future, and we've got lots of new cool stuff in the works!

Anyone feel like jumping in a lake for the TimeBank?!  Luckily you don't have to!  Five brave members are participating in the Polar Plunge on behalf of the TimeBank and they need your support!  Please give and support their efforts here:  The Polar Plunge is Saturday, 2/16 at Christy's Landing on Lake Waubesa.  Plunging starts at 10.  Come out and support our plungers.  Then buy them each a hot toddy!

The TimeBank is gearing up for The Big Share. The Big Share is an online day of giving hosted by Community Shares of Wisconsin (CSW) for nearly 70 local nonprofits dedicated to building an equitable and just community and protecting our environment. CSW and its members envision a future where all voices are heard, where we all have clean water and air, where all neighbors have access to family-supporting jobs, and all communities in Wisconsin are safe and thriving. The Big Share is a fun, easy and flexible way to donate to and learn more about organizations making a difference in our community. We'll keep you posted in the coming weeks, but save the date - March 5th. You can contribute to the TimeBank's campaign and support our Restorative Justice Work, including our Youth Court Project. You'll find us here: If you're interested in helping us make our campaign a success, please get in touch. We need matching donations, early donors, ambassadors, and folx who want to help as peer to peer fundraisers. There are many ways to contribute and it's easy and fun. For many young people, an encounter with the justice system can trigger a downward spiral.  With your help, the Dane County TimeBank is changing that trajectory.

The Dane County TimeBank is planning for the future and we’d like your input! Please click through this link to start sharing your ideas: Your individuals responses are confidential and will be seen only by Timpano Consulting, who is facilitating our strategic planning progress. The survey will be open through Friday, February 15. It should take about 10-15 minutes to complete. Please be candid! Your insights will be really helpful for the Board and staff as we deliberate the future later this month.

We've got a new Pop Up Project in the works. There are a lot of desktop computers at the Social Justice Center that are old and not in the best of shape. There are also plenty of folx in the building and beyond that would love to use those computers if they were updated rather than them ending up in a landfill. We're ironing out the details of a project that transforms those old computers into good working machines and teaches people how to do that at the same time. Our friends at Sector67 have offered to teach a group of people how to prep these computers for reuse. Once they are updated, we'll give them new homes. If interested, get in touch, and stay tuned for dates and times for the workshop/class. Keep an eye on the TimeBank's events calendar or our facebook page.

Finally, we're in our new office and the Mutual Aid Workspace is open! Keep your eyes out for things happening in the building. You'll find new groups, meet ups, workshops, and other opportunities coming soon. We'll post things to the events calendar and on our facebook page as things kick off. Things starting now - planning for the Garden Project - next meeting is Monday, 2/11 at 5; "Sunday School" - a skill building, workshop style, ongoing opportunity; regular TimeBank office hours for sign ups, technical assistance, and drop in support for TimeBankers; and a youth-led discussion group. Things in development - an art group, a pop up project meet up brainstorming group, a book club, a TimeBank Store/Library of Things, and much more.

Stay safe out there on this ice and keep supporting one another.  We look forward to hearing from you!
