For people with the willingness, skills and talents to help others, it can be hard to connect with people who have need for those services.
The Dane County TimeBank provides a solution. A local nonprofit since 2005, TimeBank provides a way for a network of more than 2,000 members to connect with each other and offer or exchange services.

Anyone can join. People may offer to give someone else a ride, share Spanish conversation, prepare and deliver food, or help haul large items with a truck.
When you offer a service through TimeBank, you earn credit, or ‘hours,’ to your account that you can later spend with any person in the network for any type of service. Time is the currency, and TimeBank helps members track and use the credit they earn and spend. All hours are valued the same, no matter what a person offers.

Organizations can be members as well. More than 200 organizations utilize TimeBank for access to a greater pool of volunteers. Additionally, TimeBank provides organizations with a way to reward volunteers – TimeBank hours volunteers can spend on other services.

TimeBank also partners with other organizations to help fill resource gaps in Dane County communities. One such project coordinates rides for people who need access to regular medical appointments, but have limited personal or financial resources. Through a pool of drivers, TimeBank connects these individuals to rides. TimeBank is always looking to increase its driver pool. If interested in volunteering, contact Transportation Coordinator Bunny Brzezinski at 608-663-0400.

In Sun Prairie, TimeBank works with individuals with developmental disabilities and their families to help them find and enjoy more activities and support, as well as opportunities to contribute their talents. TimeBank plans monthly gatherings that are all welcome to join, and facilitates one-on-one connections for sharing activities together.
