The Dane County TimeBank is growing in the Sun Prairie area, and invites the community to learn more. The TimeBank is a mutual exchange system that anyone can join. It provides a network for members to find and connect with each other to see what things people have to offer and to set up exchanges.

Thorugh the TimeBank, people might offer services such as giving rides, pet sitting, teaching guitar, mentoring youth, hauling things with a truck, repairing a leaky faucet, fixing a computer or sharing produce from a garden. The possibilities are endless. When you provide a service, you earn credit or “hours” in your account that you can spend at a later time with any person in the network for any type of service.

Individuals or organizations can join. For organizations, TimeBank offers access to a greater pool of potential volunteers. And TimeBank membership provides organizations with a way to reward volunteers – which is TimeBank “hours” that volunteer members can use to receive services.

The TimeBank is planning monthly events in Sun Prairie from now through March for people to learn more about TimeBanking and meet other members. Join the TimeBank for snacks, activities, and information about the TimeBank.

The first event is a sing along on Thursday, Sept. 21 from 6-8 p.m. at the Sunshine Supper space, 1632 W. Main St.

Future event dates and times are to be announced, so check out the events section at www.danecountytimebank.org, or contact 608-663-0400 or amy@danecountytimebank.org for more information.

Future events will include a Halloween party, yoga and stretching, Christmas cookies and caroling, comedy games and a cooking class, with dates and locations to be announced on the website.
