Community Support Network - LaFollette High School Restorative Justice Support
Saturday, November 2, 2 pm to 4 pm
Monday, November 4, 2 pm to 4 pm
Monday, November 4, 6 pm to 8 pm
The Dane County TimeBank Community Support Network (CSN) is a response to the need for more support for our restorative justice coordinator at Lafollette High School, Alexis Gardner and the need for students to have a community presence that is dedicated to listening to them, amplifying their voices and advocating on their behalf from a restorative justice framework.
Participants will get oriented to some of the needs high school students have such as conflict resolution skills, deeper awareness about their potential as community leaders, and opportunities for them to build meaningful connections across social and economic differences. CSN members will serve as peacemakers, listeners, advocates in addressing these needs and will assist in supporting Alexis Gardner, the TimeBank’s Restorative Justice Coordinator at LaFollette High School.
Ms. Garner has been doing an excellent job at Lafollette and over the years the TimeBank's presence in the school has provided a much needed effort to shift us from punitive measures grounded in power imbalances to a restorative approach that improves our ability to hear and respect the voices of every school community member - including teachers, staff, students, parents and others who work with this community.
If you would like to join one of these sessions, please contact Dr. Damita Brown the Restorative Justice Project Director at email@example.com.
