Dane County Timebank, Inc.
Board of Directors
DIANE BROWN
Communications and Events Manager
Association of State Floodplain Managers
I have lived by Warner Park for 23 years, intentionally choosing the Northside over other Madison neighborhoods when we bought our home in 1985. My son was raised through Mendota Elementary, Sherman Middle, and East High, where I made it a priority at all three schools to help improve the quality of programs and communication with parents. I've enjoyed serving on Dane County TimeBank's Northside Kitchen Cabinet the past two years, and was elected to the DCTB Board of Directors this winter. I look forward to continuing to serve as a liaison between the two, as well as helping with the International TB Conference again when it comes back to Madison in 2009. I am also the current President of Sherman Neighborhood Association. Always active in the community and my church, my life philosophy echoes that of Sir Winston Churchill, "We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give."

KATHLEEN WERNER
Middleton Kitchen Cabinet Representative
Hello, My name is Kathy Werner and I am very excited about joining the Timebank Board. Over the past year, I have enjoyed the exchanges I have personally made through my Timebank membership and have also been part of the Middleton Kitchen Cabinet. This past summer, I had the opportunity to attend the International Timebank Conference. Hearing about Timebank applications throughout the world was truly inspiring.
Professionally, I have spent over 10 years working with challenged communities in a variety of positions (Service Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator, Nutrition Site Manager, and Massage Therapist). These experiences have prompted me to question the traditional model of service delivery and to embrace and foster grassroots endeavors. It has been my experience that in every community there are strong leaders with creative and empowering ideas that simply need to be heard and supported.
My academic background includes a B.A. in Economics and Women's Studies and a M.A. in Agricultural Economics. I obtained both of these degrees from the U.W. while juggling my real life as a single mom of 3 children. My now grown children and one grandchild continue to be a source of amazement and joy for me.
My current pursuits include coordinating our neighborhood Sustainability Discussion Courses and ongoing involvement with Bayview's Ethnic Fest Planning Committee. I also enjoy paper mache and a variety of recycling crafts.
